FirePoint Version Information

Upgrading begins by understanding FirePoint versions. Here's all you need to know.

FirePoint software falls into technological generations. The Command Window was introduced with FirePoint 6, NFIRS 5 was introduced in FirePoint 6.5. Now the technology has advanced replacing older generations of FirePoint with FirePoint 7 and FirePoint 2003. These numbers track the technological evolution of the product. Release dates are probably more significant when determining your need to upgrade FirePoint.

FirePoint programming releases are tracked by release date. For example, programming release "05/07" indicates the FirePoint programming was released in May of 2007.

All the version information you need is in the upper left corner of the command window. Notice this is a FirePoint 7 release released in "12/03". This is now a much older version of FirePoint.

If you are current in your support plan and you are using the single-user version of FirePoint all you need to do is download the latest FirePoint release. If you are running the client server version of FirePoint you need to consider one additional factor. You must match FirePoint programming to the version of 4D Server you are using.

Oldest 4D Server Version Supported: 6.06 (Support for this version will end soon. The "06/04" upgrade will be the last for this version.) You should see a "6.0.6" in place of the "7.0.2" above.

Support for 4D Server Version 6.56 will continue into next year. You should see a "6.5.6" in place of the "7.0.2" above.

Newest 4D Server Version Supported: 2003 (7.0.8) (This version is recommended for newest Windows operating systems.)

All FirePoint programming for the three supported versions of 4D Server has the same features. You must match your FirePoint upgrade to the 4D Server version you are using. Simply put, 4D Server 6.06 must run FirePoint for 4D Server 6.06. You cannot mismatch 4D Server Versions and FirePoint server programming.

New 4D Server applications are purchased from our sales division and delivered by mail. For more information call (800) 776-6783. This site provides FirePoint upgrades, not upgrades to the 4D Server application itself.

FirePoint upgrades are complete. If you have skipped several release dates, all the features you missed will be available in the most recent release date.
