One file operation you are apt to perform at regular intervals is exporting incident records to the State Fire Marshal's Office.
Begin by pressing the Incidents button on the Command Window.
You will see two procedures related to the State Fire Marshal.
Run the "State Fire Marshal Errors" file first. This will locate Incident records that do not meet NFIRS 5 error checking requirements. If you have errors go back to the Incidents list view after running the error checking procedure. Incidents that fail error checking will be marked in blue. Double-click on each blue incident and make the changes outlined in red on the first page of the Basic form.
When your incidents are error-free run the "State Fire Marshal Export" routine. Follow the instructions in this routine to export your incidents. If you are exporting to the state you may wish to export only NFIRS 5 Incidents. Most states have no use for related Apparatus and Patients records. Besides, exporting unnecessary data can increase the changes your State Fire Marshal will find an error.
