Connecting to FirePoint Server Via the Internet

You can connect to a FirePoint server from anywhere in the world simply by using the Internet. There are just a couple of requirements:

The PC running FirePoint server must be on the Internet  
The PC running FirePoint server must have a dedicated IP address  

For security some agencies may prefer to further encrypt Internet communication by setting-up a "VPN" or Virtual Private Network. But a "VPN" is not a prerequisite to operating FirePoint server over the Internet. Here's how it's done.

Open FirePoint client software.

Click on Custom tab.

Enter 4D Server in the Database Name field. Enter your FirePoint server computer's TCP/IP address in the Network Address area above. Press OK.

You should see a list of available servers. Click on the FirePoint server and check-in just like you were operating on a local area network.

This is an excellent option to check-into FirePoint from remote locations.
